ABOVE & BEYOND: REVIEW THE SHOW

Once again, a huge thanks to everyone who made it out for the madness @ Epic last night!

It’s great to host DJs who are so humble and bring such energy to their performance. We hope you all enjoyed the night as much as we did.

Tell us your thoughts on the night! Show us your pictures and videos!

We’ll see you Tuesday night for David Guetta @ Spin!

This was one of the better DJ acts I’ve seen recently. I liked every single song they played, particularly the melodic, vocal, uplifting tracks. These guys have great stage presence and Epic was the perfect size venue for them. We really liked the hula hoop girl too. :)

Can’t wait to get the podcast! Thanks Sound In Motion! Bring them back soon!

This show was spectacular! Scrappr and CPA’s opening set was good, but the show exploded once Boom Jinx got going (despite the poor transition between the two sets–silence shouldn’t happen at a show). I commented at one point that it felt a little bit like if Deadmau5 mixed trance (which is to say that I LOVED it). If Boom Jinx came back as a main act, I’d definitely go see them, and tell everyone to come.

I don’t have words that can sufficiently describe Above & Beyond’s set, other than to say it was probably the best I’ve been to in the past year. This isn’t to say that Ferry, Tiesto, Armin, and others weren’t great shows, but A&B was spectacular.

Thanks so much to Above & Beyond, Boom Jinx, Sound In Motion, Epic, and everyone else for a truly fantastic night. Please, let’s do this again some time! :D

I will never forget the moment Above and Beyond started their set with Dirty Vegas..my night was never so more exciting…especially with their high energy performances.I have seen these guys on TV, Internet and even heard them play on the radio. But to see them live was such an absolute euphoria. I was hoping to hear them play Irufushi and On a Good Day, both of which they did.

Even afterwards the fact that I got to meet them and spend a few minutes talking to them made it the greatest night I have ever had. I have never met artists like them who are so humble and yet so great. Their simplicity and their friendliness makes them artists who rise above and beyond (no pun intended) every other artist.

As far as SIM goes, you guys did a stellar job with the sounds, the lights and the lineup. CPA and Scrappr set the stage for the night. I have always wanted to see Boom Jinx play and for the amount I paid to get a ticket, I got to see two World Class DJs.It never gets better than that !!

Thank you so much Jack Trash and SIM crew for giving a hardcore Above and Beyond fan the greatest night of his life ! You guys truly know how to treat the crowd :-)

These guys are easily the best electronic music trio around. They played a great set and brought incredible energy to the club. Between Paavo’s notes to the crowd written on his 17” MacBook Pro’s screen and their routine trips to the end of the stage to shake hands with fans, it was clear that these are DJs for the people.

Particular highlights of the night came near the end of the set when the guys played their own tracks and remixes and tracks by their side project OceanLab as well as signed autographs and took photos with their adoring fans.

Boom Jinx was far beyond the caliber of the traditional opening DJ we see in Minneapolis. His set was on par with any major DJ.

Boom Jinx was a great addition to a show I was already very excited about. When he dropped Solarity – Terminal 6 the crowd went nuts (including me)! His set was great overall. Above & Beyond were really cool dudes; they seemed to be having a great time up there. Loved the little laptop messages to the crowd. I’m glad Minneapolis represented for A&B… hopefully they’ll come back soon!

I am wondering if anyone can help ID a track boom jinx played in his set. I went to both the columbus show and the chicago show last night. He used it in both sets, and in chicago he opened with it. I have never heard this track before but it is absolutely incredible and I just can not find it. I was dying to ask him but I didn’t get the chance. A tracklist or anything will help.

    Thanks

So much fun! Good music, Awesome Dj’s (some of the most down to earth people I’ve ever met), Great lights (LASERS ROCK). The vibe was awesome and I loved every minute of it!!!

The show was fantastic! It started out strong and kept getting better from there. I remember seeing them a few years back and there was a huge difference in the crowd. There were a ton of people out having a great time- believe me, those guys noticed. One even made the comment to me that he was shocked at how much the scene had changed from the last time he was in Minneapolis. I think it’s safe to assume they had a blast and would love to return again in the future! Awesome show!!!

So incredible! I would pay anything to see them again. Show had an extremely high fun factor for sure. Boom Jinx set the stage for A&B perfectly, but I loved the performance of both. I would love to see both Boom Jinx and A&B play here again, or either. Their uplifting, dreamy trance and progressive is out of this world. It was so fantastic!

The A&B show was, without a doubt, the best show I’ve seen all year. Epic was the perfect venue to host this crowd-destroyer, and the DJ lineup was fantastic. Scrappr and CPA were working the crowd from the get-go (and I loved it that they handed out mix cd’s, they are really great btw)! But the real magic started happening when Boom Jinx jumped on the stage and opened his laptop and unleashed pure gold with his opener “Turning Point” by Deadmau5. An old track, but a PERFECT way to set the bar incredibly high for the night. His professionalism and friendly attitude was immediately apparent and infectous.

Above & Beyond really blew me away. I knew they’d kill it, but not like they did. Paavo and Jono did everything right – perfect crowd interaction and communication (<3 LAPTOP MESSAGES!), phenomenal uplifting trance as expected, and a totally killer blend of A&B and Oceanlab classics together near the end. I don't think my feet touched the ground once that entire set. FLAWLESS.

I definitely hold A&B as the #1 trance DJs in the world. Move outta the way, Armin and Tiesto. You're about to be pushed aside by the real winners!

ALSO, a side note of extra sweet things I liked:

-the hoola-hoop girl was the best dance talent I've seen at Epic, period.
-I got Boom Jinx, Paavo and Jono's signatures.
-I gave Paavo my blue bracelet that he wore on his left wrist for the last 15 minutes of their set!! He loved it!

Thank you SIM for making this a night I will never forget. Great music, great friends, and killer DJ's… I've been inspired to be a better person and a more focused DJ because of this one night out interacting with such selfless and passionate people.

The final word: It doesn't get any better than this!!

I had a great time. Boom Jinx killed it, I haven’t jumped so hard while on the dance floor during an opener.

I really had fun at this concert. After seeing Tiesto and surviving the insanity and madness, it was nice to see Above & Beyong who are genuinely passionate in their productions and Dj’ing. It was also nice to have ome room to actually move around on the dance floor! lasers kicked ass too!

The past Friday was literally one of the best times of my life, going out to see Above & Beyond at Epic. Their set was superb and it was fantastic to hear so much amazing trance the whole night. Nothing will ever be able to top the feeling you get hearing the best uplifting trance in a club with everyone eating it all up and demanding more.

Above & Beyond were amazing because they weren’t just DJing, they were interacting with everyone and giving us their best. I will say that, in addition to being completely sore from dancing so much, my face hurt because I had been smiling so much. I had that much fun.

Thank you SIM for bringing them, the light show and set-up was great! You guys did a great job throwing this party! In the end, I don’t think I can stress this enough: bring these guys back SOON!! :D
