What can you say about Mr. Massa? For almost a decade now he has championed the breakbeat style without ever letting it stifle his creativity or go to his head. If you’re from the Midwest you probably had heard of the Better Breakbeat Bureau a few years ago. While the crew brought some of the best breakbeat shows the upper midwest had seen over a 5 year span under his direction, even as capo of Milwaukee’s breakbeat mafia, he managed to play consistently peaking at over 70 gigs played each year consecutively in 2007 & 2008.

He has thrown numerous nights in Milwaukee and surrounding areas featuring bookings of some of the most respected DJs in the world, playing styles from all over the dance music spectrum: breaks, drum n bass, house, electro & techno. Continually proving why he has been one of the Midwest’s best hidden talents in a world where DJs get bookings based mostly on the wrong reasons, let it be known when DJ Icey last played Milwaukee he specifically requested Mario open up the show. When Mario booked headliners, nearly every time he surrendered the opening time slot or shared it with friends, giving utmost respect to those influential DJs who surrounded him, locally & regionally. He has continually shirked that cliche DJ trait of cockiness and has traded it in for being an easy-going, down-to-earth jock of all trades and has often been caught red-handed saving club nights with his audio armory & knowledge. You should read this as: not afraid to sweat a little bit to make the night go more smoothly for everybody else.

These days he has for all intensive purposes dropped his promoter status for all of its follies and perils, and has been focused on being a music lover supreme. And this weekend, as this mix plays he is relocating to San Antonio, Texas. Having circulated the mix to only some of his closest friends over the last few months, it seemed the best fitting goodbye to the region that will forever be where he got his start. If tonite is the first time you are hearing of Mario Massa, rest assured it will not be your last.

He has played places as far and wide as Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Kansas, Colorado & Miami. And that list is sure to grow.

More than a mix-master, TomFoolery is a student of the scene and of the sound, a journeyman and a spiritual leader that takes crowds on musical rides of self-exploration and enlightenment. His name is constantly atop the breakbeat singles charts and his production credits for CatalyticSouls REC label are making him a leader on the scene. One of the originators of the midwest USA jungle scene, Paul “Easyrider” has more recently been known for bringing 2step garage and dubstep sounds to Minneapolis in the early 00’s as a part of the Stepper’s Alliance DJ collective, his Alliance Recordings imprint, and promoter of the ground-breaking United Grooves parties. Currently holding down a residency at Konkrete Jungle Minneapolis, as well as staying upfront with drum & bass, Paul is also pushing the new sounds drawing in and out of the lines of soca, grime, dubstep and house music. Easyrider is a Midwest US legend and if you caught his last set on True Sounds Radio then you know what you’re in for, supreme skills and a funky selection. Minnesota born and raised, Jake Break has been musically oriented his whole life. He has a strong classic rock influence that he also uses mixed in with his djing. Jake got his start in the Minneapolis scene by entering a dj contest hosted by Sound In Motion in the spring of 2006. After only spinning for one year, Jake took first place to win the opening slot for the number 1 dj in the world, Tiesto! After the contest he moved to Florida to study the the original and biggest breaks scene in the world. After one year he returned to Minnesota to join with Sixone2 Entertainment. Since his return he has been tearing up the midwest dance floors with his banging Florida influenced electro and funky breaks. Tune in to hear some sick tunes from the man, Jake Break!
