BENNY BENASSI RE-SCHEDULED DATE UPDATED
We have a date in the middle of June that we are awaiting final contract approval on. All pre-sales will be good for the event. Stay tuned. We are hoping for final approval and the announcement today.
UPDATE: WE WILL ANNOUNCE THE NEW DATE AT 8PM TONIGHT!
BENNY BENASSI POSTPONED!
Attention: Benny Benassi is not making it to the twin cities for his performance on Thursday, May 27th @ Spin Nightclub. Severe weather has caused major flight delays and cancellations in New York, and Benny’s flight was canceled.
It is vitally important to SIM and Spin that everyone has accurate information about what has happened. We will have a re-scheduled date with Benny this June or July. We will hopefully know the re-scheduled Benny date by the end of the day Friday. ***ALL PRE-SALE TICKETS WILL BE HONORED AT THIS APPEARANCE.
TONIGHT—Anyone with a pre-sale gets into Spin FREE. People without pre-sales will need to pay the standard Spin cover charge for a Thursday night, $6 for everyone except dudes under 21 ($). We have spared no expense on making this event insane, and we expect the party to be on no matter what. The rest of the dj line-up remains the same, ad Spin’s resident John Kill has been added to the main room lineup.
Information on refunds and a statement from Benny’s agent will be available on www.simshows.com and www.spinmn.com starting sometime Friday morning.
We apologize for any inconvenience. There was absolutely nothing SIM, Spin, Benny or Benny’s management/agent could do to avert this flight cancelation.
Please contact Jack Trash jacktrash@hotmail.com or on facebook for any questions.

SIM CUSTOMERS SPEAK ON SANDER VAN DOORN!
Here is what some SIM customers sent us as comments…
fyi last names have been omitted out of respect to the people
Sam says
I love sander because his music makes me come alive!
Abdul says
Hope this weekend is a blast!…im a huge fan of svd and pvd because
of their track selections. They know very well when to play a certain
type of track and it really brings the mood out of the crowd.
Mel says
I remember the first time that I heard about Sander Van Doorn, it was about a year and a half ago. I was just enjoying a night in with some of my closest friends. Drinking, eating and listening to music. As the night progressed, my best friend asked me if I knew about this one DJ, I replied by saying that I’ve only heard of his name but nothing more. He put the music on and blasted it. It was the song “Riff”. For some reason that song reminded me of the movie “Blade”. Remember that first scene with the blood shower/rave scene?
Anyways, I could totally picture in my head the same scene with “Riff” playing in the background.
My point is, I’m glad that I’ve heard about him, and have since continued to watch his progress in the United States. I’m really surprised that he’s jumped from spot #32 to spot #10 in only three years. He’s one of the only few DJs that can implement a variety of sounds, from trance to electro, techno and house which is why he caught my attention. I’m super excited that he’s coming to Minneapolis and told all my closest friends about him. I’m hoping that they will join me this Friday to experience the magic that SVD will bring to the table.
Sander is definitely one to watch. I will keep following his world conquest in the nearest years to come because he does bring a sense of inebriation to my brain.
He’s an innovative DJ and I cannot wait to see him manipulate the crowd with his sick tracks :)
Ryan says
SVD or PVD Love them both. PVD for his wealth of experience and producing talent. SVD for his enthusiasm and insane jaw dropping tracks. Makes me love trance once again. I tried to see SVD when Tenshi played instead. This night will be x10 of what foundation would have brought. Karma will be blown away!
Clayton says
I love Sander because is the only dj that didnt have an off mix at ultra. And therefor makes him the man. not to mention his set shit all over anyone else that played there! SANDER IS MY FAVORITE DJ!!!!! His energy and love to dj helps him out play everyone!
Benjamin says
Hey yeah I love Sander Van Doorn because of his original sound!! He’s a genius in the studio and I saw him at Ultra Music conference two years ago and he killed it. So I definitely need the hook up to see him again!!! Especially since he’ll be in MN!!!! Thanks for getting him hear I voted early when you asked who you wanted to see come to town.
Won’t mention this dude’s na,e for obvious reasons…
I tried ket for the first time at a SvD show while on three drops of liquid. fuckin’ nuts crazy insane, I definitely lost my mind and am still looking to get it back.
Jeffrey says
It would be impossible for me to say that between Sander Van Doorn,
Paul Van Dyk and Benny Benassi, i love one more than the other. They
are three musical geniouses with their own sounds. I love all three of
them because i can turn on their music and thr energy just makes me
forget about whatever is going wrong in my life and makes me focus on
the good things. Sander, especially, surprises me with the complexity
of his music. I love them all and cant even describe how excited i am
for all three shows!!
Alex says
I love SVD, because when I hear Grasshopper when I’m on the freeway, I have to crank it ear piercingly loud, and when the crazy panning part at the end comes on is when I hit 100mph. Irresponsible? Yes. But FUCK IS IT A RUSH!!!
Laura says
I think Sander is a very talented Dj because he has such a unique sound that no one else can compare to! He has such a wide range of music and no matter what he is playing it always puts a smile on my face! I am so excited to see him live for the first time! It’s gonna be an amazing night!
Rachelle says
Sander van Doorns’ music produces the following effects; wide eyes and a toothy grin, goosebumps and chills, an extreme adrenaline rush along with a rapid heartbeat, and most importantly an uncontrolable need to move, what I will refer to as a “happy anxiety attack!” Cannot wait to experience this effect firsthand, instead of everytime my phone rings and I hear “Look Inside Your Head.”
Steffanie says
Let me start by saying that I feel like summing up a single reason why I love SvD, van Dyk, or Benassi wouldn’t suffice to their phenomenal accomplishments and global influences. If I were to in any form attempt to sum up a reason of passion, I’ll turn to SvD, since I will be attending the show tomorrow.
I think the great thing about house, trance, techno, euro, underground and progressive is that everything is so raw and pure talent. There are going to be inspirations, however, in the end, it’s one person, their mind, experiences and a sole set of decks. The beats and sets produced form a global language that unites every single individual who is reached by the music.
At such a young age, van Doorn has produced a variety of tracks in different genres that support a genuine talent in a profession that requires his personal adversity, dedication and sheer talent.
Personally, I love van Doorn’s music due to the euphoric experience it ignites. I turn on some freshly mixed beats and am taken to a completely different world. The most amazing feeling is knowing not just that music can have this effect, however, that other people have the same experience. What van Doorn has done is taken this concept to the extreme, not abiding by mainstream standards. Focusing on what he loves, he still manages to produce his best capable works for his supporters all around the world. There is a lot to be said about his fan base, and the energy and excitement this produces.
I’m absolutely honored to have the opportunity to attend one of his shows and know it will be an unforgettable, ridiculous experience. The lights, waves of people moving in unison to the melodic beats and hard hitting bass, Sander van Doorn cannot disappoint.
Jessica says
I could give a million reasons why I love Benny and SVD. The main reason is that I can dance to their funky beats all night.
So excited for tomorrow night!!!!!!!!!
Matthew says
I can’t tell you that I love Sander Van Doorn (as requested in your contest) because I am happily married to my beautiful wife, but I can definitely tell you that I absolutely love his style and his rise to stardom- and regardless if I don’t win this thing I still hope you read this.
Let me start by saying that I first heard Sander back when XM radio was rotating his “Twister” non-stop under his guise of Sam Sharp and would absolutely rock out while on the job during the day. Fast forward to my first Sound In Motion event when I walked into Myth and it was at that very moment I heard Sting repeating that he was “sending out an SOS…” and low and behold you were up on stage getting everyone pumped for Tiesto- and man did that moment become ingrained in my memory because that was a flippin awesome concert and what a way to start it off… Sander Van Doorn’s Message In a Bottle remix… oh yeah, I went straight home and did the research on who remixed that classic from The Police!
So after I found out about Sander Van Doorn, I started putting the pieces together that this is definitely one dj to follow due to his style- I mean, his style is rather unique because he really does come harder than most through his productions- and that kind of approach within his music can only come from someone with true passion for what they are doing. So you can only imagine my excitement when I heard he was coming to Foundation back in the day!!! Oh man I was ecstatic to finally be able to see this guy bring it live! But for some reason the show didnt fall through- and hey, that is sometimes how the cookie crumbles- but I was sure he would be booked sooner than later because he was dropping bombs on beatport left and right!
Well, it was finally the summer of ’07 when my very good friend and I thought that for sure we were going to either fly or drive to see Sander perform live because it would do our concert experiences justice- major justice to hear Direct Dizko live- and wouldn’t you know, we found out that he was booked to perform up in Winnepeg that July and we took off that Friday afternoon to see him perform that night- and oh was it worth it!!! He had just released his “Riff” unofficially and it caused us to make major haste to Winnipeg because we had that track on repeat!!! So we get there and WTF there werent many people there!!! Coming from the Twin Cities I would have at least expected a crowd of Foundation proportions, but instead there were about no more than 100 people!!! But damn- in a way that made our day because here was Sander performing for what felt like a private party!!! After his set I stayed behind and asked to get a picture with him and my friend and I am telling you- he is so laid back and appreciative of the compliments I gave him- BUT he was pretty blown away to hear that I drove from MPLS to see him that day… I dont know if he even knew where MPLS was, or if he was just going along with whatever I was saying- but nonetheless, he seemed grateful for us driving up to see him. I made sure to tell him that Minneapolis is waiting for him to perform for us!
Then, spring of ’09 I went to Seattle to visit my Sis-in-law and said I would only go the weekend of the 25th because that is when Sander was performing at the Last Supper nightclub- and when my good friend who went with me to Winnipeg heard the news he booked a flight too. We rocked out hard and enjoyed his set to the fullest once again- and once again after his set I said I needed to give him props for his accomplishments since Winnipeg- and I was able to! The folks in charge of clearing the club surprisingly let me go up and talk to him when they heard I was from Minneapolis- and Sander welcomed me once again. He started laughing when I told him about Winnipeg because I know his crowds have gained much larger masses, but his demeanor was the same- appreciative and grateful. I once again told him that Minneapolis was waiting for him to perform and I hope it will be soon…
Jack, I would absolutely love the opportunity to personally welcome Sander Van Doorn to our city and thank him for the show that he is going to put on because I know his set is going to come hard like it did the last two times I saw him. I have already paid for my ticket to the show so please sell it to someone else because I am more than happy to support “the cause”!!! Actually- I have 4 other friends (including my boy Derek from the other shows) coming through this Friday and we are anxious to see Sander cause wreck!!! =) So yeah, this pitch of mine isn’t about the free admittance, but the meet and greet so I can tell him his fans in MPLS are very grateful for him coming through.

SIM <3s FACEBOOK
Over the course of the next few weeks you may notice a few changes on simshows.com
If you know any of us here at SIM, then you know how much we loooooove Facebook (especially JT). To prove just how much we care about Facebook we decided to let the studly social networking powerhouse make sweet sweet love to our hot young website.
Why should you care about a fake sexual romance between 2 websites? Is that what you are asking yourself right now? Are you wondering if we are crazy? Am I asking waaaay too many questions?
Well, perhaps the visual picture I’ve painted wasn’t the best way to tell you about our new updates…but I had fun writing it, and we at SIM are very pleased with the beautiful love children that the aforementioned booty call gave us.
For those of you who are still lost…
HERE ARE A FEW WAYS WE HAVE INTEGRATED FACEBOOK INTO OUR HUMBLE LITTLE BLOG (WITH MORE TO COME IF ALL GOES AS PLANNED):
-YOU CAN NOW LEAVE COMMENTS USING YOUR FACEBOOK LOGIN. This means no more having to login with your Name, Email, Website, and Shoe Size. All you have to do is hit the blue “Facebook Connect” button, follow a speedy “Connect” process. Then we suggest you take a deep breath, and comment away without the stress and worry the original login created. As long as you keep the “Facebook Connect” connection you won’t have to login every time you want to leave a comment telling SIM who to bring. You may also notice that this feature will pull your Facebook profile pic and plop it down right next to your comment. We like this because it means fewer generic grey boxes with bald/faceless men in them.
-SOUND IN MOTION’S FACEBOOK FAN PAGE ON SIMSHOW.COM Yes, you can now sign-up for our Facebook Fan page on the right hand site of our actual website. If you truly are a fan of Sound In Motion you will def appreciate the extra hours you’ll get to spend on SIMShows.com, hours you would have normally spent hanging out on our Facebook Fan Page. If you wait long enough you may even see your picture displayed amongst all the other beautiful SIM Fans. But we still like visitors back over on the Facebook version, so we added a link in the very same widget that will whisk you away to where you can read new posts, and memorize the names and job titles of all the SIM crew members.
OTHER ROMANTICAL FACEBOOK STUFF WE HOPE TO ADD IN THE COMING WEEKS:
-A slick little Facebook tracker that will let us all know how many times our posts have been shared.
-The ability to post comments on our Facebook page, and have those comments magically appear on our SIMShows.com page…slowly we will become one.
-Share buttons and/or shortcodes
-CANDY!!!!!
-The ability to use my profile pic as your own on every comment you post
We have a few other tricks up our hoodie sleeves, so keep checking back to see how we plan to make SIMShows.com even more awesomer!!!!11!!
IN THE MEANTIME WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO LEAVE US COMMENTS HERE. WE ‘D LOVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THE UPDATES, OR WHAT YOU’D LIKE TO SEE ADDED TO SIMSHOWS.COM IN THE FUTURE.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM SIM :)
Hey SIM fans! I def feel the need to throw a great big shout-out to everyone who helped make 2009 an absolutely amazing year of music in the twin cities. I will only address the things SIM has been involved with, as that is obviously what my heart is 100% into. I think many of you really realized that when we all work together to promote the artists we love the entire scene can start to thrive more then ever! Inviting your friends to the fb event, re-tweeting things, sharing youtube vids, posting feeds, talking to your friends, encouraging them listen to internet/radio shows, etc… these are the things that turn people onto electronic music. Most of all, getting people to experience an insane live event is most often the clincher, and amazing events abounded in 2009…
-Maybe your fave was Chewbacca and Storm Troopers roaming around at AVB
-Maybe your fave was Benny Benassi and his serene smile while pounding you with crazed electro raving beats
-Maybe your fave was Johnny Fiasco droppin’ slick grooves from groovy house to acid trax
-Maybe your fave was FIlo & Peri playing their all-time “Anthem”
-Maybe your fave was a sold-out Tiesto show with the most insane LED wall ever for a Mpls electronica show
-Maybe your fave was Ferry Corsten showing everyone why he is consistently rated among the best in the world for his flair and energy
-Maybe your fave was David Guetta tossing his golden locks around while bringin’ the business to a sold-out Spin Nightclub
So many to choose from, and 2010 is looking to present even more opportunities for total awesomeness!
I thank you for everything you do to support the music. We (SIM) tried to step it up more this year with the production and presentation of our events, but the only way we can do this is with the support of our customers. We have to manage the business side along with our passion for the music, and we always want to present the best show we can. It was exciting for us to be able to up the ante with our production, and we are looking forward to trying some new things in 2010!
We are already working on a bunch of headliner events for 2010, including some of your/our faves and some first-timers to the cities. We will put 100% into each and every show we present, and we hope you join us with trying to make 2010 even better then 2009! The opportunity is there to take these artists we love and get even more people excited about them!
We will be hosting a end-of-the-year customer survey that will ask for your feedback on a number of things, so stay tuned for that next week.
I hope you have a great holiday season, and have the opportunity to catch up on whatever it is that you enjoy.
Thanks for your support!

DOOR & LINE INFO FOR TIESTO

Look for these signs upon arrival
Both doors of Epic will be used for the Tiesto show this Friday. Please read and feel free to share the information with friends. We want the lines to run as smooth as possible, and with as little confusion as possible.
The main door, the one under the Epic sign (pictured), will be used for walk up tickets and bottle service. The other door, a half a block up 5th Street towards 1st Avenue, will be used for tickets from www.tiesto.com, www.clubtix.net, www.vitalculture.com, and guestlist. We plan on having 2 lines at that second door…one for Tiesto.com tickets, and one for the rest. Please have your printouts with you and ready. Have your ID handy while in line too. We promise we will do whatever we can to get you in quick.
We hope this helps…
…remember, doors open @ 8pm. We advise you get to the club as early as you can if you like to avoid lines. The earlier the better. Expect longer lines between 10pm and 12:30am.
There will be tickets available @ the door the night of the event.
WHO SHOULD SIM BRING?
SIM wants to do a show towards the end of this year. Problem is, we can’t decide on what do to! We’re asking for everyone to get involved and vote on one of the several options we are looking at for the end of 2009.
Who should SIM Bring?
- The Crystal Method (28%, 51 Votes)
- A-Trak (25%, 46 Votes)
- Gui Boratto (19%, 36 Votes)
- Christopher Lawrence (17%, 31 Votes)
- Donald Glaude (11%, 21 Votes)
Total Voters: 185
TIESTO TICKET NOTICE
Please note – This show is not sold out. We have sold 1200 2000 2100 2200 over 2300 tickets already, which is ridiculous. We can sell just over 3,000 tickets for the Oct 30th appearance at Epic, and we are expecting a capacity event. A presale ticket guarantees admission. Please send any ticket questions directly to jacktrash@hotmail.com or info@simshows.com. Please do not put weight in statements made by people who do not know.
FYI – We are putting more $ into this show than any other show we have presented. Prepare to be blown away!!
GET READY FOR SOME SURPRISES!
We’ve got some special things in store for Armin Van Buuren @ Epic, this thursday! Don’t miss it!
