CITIES OF GOLD
Minneapolis, MN – House/Local Talent Booker
“Born on the sounds of Genesis, Elton John, and Jackson Browne, Daniel a.k.a. Cities of Gold, has grown up with exposure to just about every genre. At the age of 12, he became a disc jockey playing anything from hip-hop/top 40 to country and oldies. Raised in a typical Midwestern community he could be found rocking out anything from the nearest high school gymnasium to the neighboring counties VFW.
During this time Cities of Gold also became exposed to electronic dance music and with his first listen to Ferry Corsten’s remix of Adagio for Strings, he was instantly hooked. Amazed by the possibilities in dance music, he pursued it whenever he wasn’t playing out the latest trend. His interest eventually became more and more focused on Electronica.
Adding to his passion for music, Daniel is also an aspiring filmmaker utilizing both image and sound to express his imagination. With such a passion for both music and film he has taken on quite a busy lifestyle.
In the spring of 2005 he met DJ Tyler Hampton at a gig in Indiana. Sharing similar interests in dance music they connected musically and eventually formed the DJ tag-team known as The Hamptons.
When he moved to Minneapolis in the summer of 2005, Daniel quickly immersed himself in the local dance community gradually finding himself one DJ gig after another. By the beginning of 2006 he joined the Sound In Motion crew as a ‘Sessions’ resident along with Tyler Hampton. Nowadays, Daniel is busy furthering his filmmaking and DJ skills. When he isn’t spinning he’s busy producing or looking for the next dancefloor-shaker.”
