Dear SIM,

I have to agree with everyone who posted. Terrible. Horrible. Disgustingly small venue for the magnitude of the event. Waiting in lines for tickets that were "presale" then waiting AGAIN to gain access to the venue.

Don't get me wrong the sets were amazing!!! At first we had room to get our groove on, then the sweaty mass of human flesh swaying in sync drove me out the door. We left early, I voiced my opinion to the staff at Spin about their unprofessional, unorganized mess of an event. Oh, and don't get me started on the lack of bar service, 4 bartenders for 1500+ people? wtf. I should have went to Club New York for the simulcast. The drinks were probably better and I wouldn't have had the sweat from 1500+ people on my body from slithering my way out the door.

I can say that I will *never* go to Spin again, for a show, a drink, a booty call.. never.

SIM please book a venue that is capable of handling an EPIC event, not the EPIC fail that occurred.

Sincerely,

I agree. I was not at Guetta, but the Benassi show this summer was exactly the same. Some people may like not being able to move, but I like to dance at least a little bit. :p I ended up leavin' early. Please, no more shows at spin.

I totally agree with P14nd4, I love the SIM shows this year so far, and hope it continues into 2010(earlier than later hopefully) but please no more shows at Spin.

I'll address the obvious venue/logistical issues in a minute, but I want to start positive:

I didn't get in until a bit after 22:30, but caught the end of Dayne's set and all of Tyler Hampton's set, both of which rocked. I believe Jack Trash made an announcement around 23:00 that David Guetta would be on in 30 minutes, but I don't think he came on until about midnight.

Guetta's set was good, as would be expected, and he seemed to be having a great time. He played songs that large portions of the crowd clearly knew and loved, as they were able to energetically sing the lyrics when Guetta would cut the volume for a few key seconds.

But...

The venue/execution was horrible. I can imagine no way in which Spin wasn't 100+ people over capacity/fire code for the main room/floor. I was about 3/4 of the way to the back on the floor, and while I started out with about 5" of buffer space in front of me, constant shoving/pushing of people entering/leaving the crowd removed any buffer space by the time Guetta arrived. The shoving/pushing didn't stop, but at least when there was literally no space around me, I didn't have to worry about falling--the whole group just shifted around as one solid entity. A solid, sweaty, kind of smelly entity.

I don't know if it was specifically a result of being over-crowded, or inherent to the venue, but the ventilation was massively insufficient. Sweat was dripping down everyone before the main act even arrived on stage. The single main floor bar to serve probably 1500 people was clearly insufficient, but to make matters worse, Spin apparently very strictly enforces a "one drink per wristband" policy, which means that everyone who wants drinks needs to concurrently crowd around the bar, rather than being able to send one person to grab a couple drinks. (Not that this policy is even effective, as it's simple, albeit time consuming, to just move down to the next bartender to get the second drink.)

So, despite good music, I just couldn't handle the massively unpleasant conditions in the club. I, like many others, left Spin early, likely never to return [in my life]. This may or may not have been the fault of Spin (as opposed to SIM), but I'd have to recommend that SIM not book any shows at Spin in the foreseeable future to placate its upset customers. It sucks to have one less venue available, but I think that's not as bad as having a ton of angry [former?] customers.

I'll have to agree that the whole night was just poorly executed. I was pushed, stepped on, the whole nine yards. Took forever to get a drink too. I also don't understand why we had to wait outside if we already had purchased tickets online. I also don't understand why my friend who had purchased a ticket online was told that he didn't pay and was forced to buy another ticket again at the door. This kind of service is simply unnacceptable. I came to this show and brought 4 friends because Tiesto was such an incredible time and kept telling my friends how awesome SIMSHOWS is and what they do. However if SIM is going to keep having experiences like these, then you can count me out from now on.

It didn't make sense that we bought tickets online but then had to wait in line for 30 mins to get a hard ticket. Then once you got the hard ticket you had to wait another 15 mins to get in. Then once you get in there was no where to go? PACKED. I've worked concert security at some other the biggest shows at Xcel, Target Center, Metrodome and that was insane how packed that place was. One stairwell to use? Seriously who thought that one up? It did kinda feel like a death trap. I'm not sure if I'd waste my time going to another show at Spin.

Worst experience ever!! If there were to be a fire last night everyone would've been dead. My party and I almost left 20 minutes after we got there. We went outside to the smoking lounge and even that was lame. When we went back inside the place had cleared out a bit since people were so pissed off and left. I definitely do not want to return to SPIN...
