John Vang, better known as Johnny Plastik, started his journey and love for music in college while mixing CD’s for his friends on his computer with various programs. Shortly after compiling a few CDs for friends he quickly bought his first pair of Technics and a set of records. Limited on the experience and still new to the scene, he frequented many raves, where he observed and picked up the basics of DJing. Within 1 year, he teamed up with his good friend and partner DJ Lump (aka Ville Thao) and formed the powerhouse DJ/production crew called Kind Beats. Johnny Plastik and DJ Lump quickly became a favorite among the small yet growing asian scene.
After throwing a handfull of succesful events, they became one of the pioneers of the twin cities asian scene and their bedroom DJ status was elevated to being nationally known DJs. With a growing fan base from coast to coast, Johnny frequently travels all across the US annually to such cities as Fresno, Los Angeles, Milwaukee and of course heavily touring the Midwest with his Kind Beats Crew. Shortly after earning the respects of local heroes and DJs, he joined Sound In Motion as a supporting member. He can be heard slamming the distinct sounds of breaks with trancey/housey element at Remedy and Plush as a resident DJ.
