Herman Dan – As a kid, having been exposed to dance music, his love for dancing quickly took shape and has been an influence in more than half of his life. If asked, Sherman would say he is a BREAKBEAT junkie. Coming from a background of break dancing, it was the flow of the funky beats that always made him want to decipher the music into stylish dance moves. This was his way of expression, appreciation, and purely thanking the music all together.
After he started DJing, Sherman went under the guidance of fellow established Kind Beats crew members Sota and Leng. With much practice and passion, Sherman started to gain confidence and finally his sound matured into what it is today. With Sota and Leng walking every step with Sherman and with the help of his wife and peers, he was soon given the alias, DJ HERMAN DAN(GEROUS). Known for his A.D.D style of music, Sherman quickly grew to be a crowd favorite and has played tunes that can get the whole house jumping. Today he is still on the rise, playing whenever and wherever he can and promoting himself and his crew Kind Beats.
Sota – How did Sota get into the art of disc jocking? That seemed to be a popular question that arises from everyone who knew Sota in high school. Sota has always been a big fan of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) ever since the early 90’s. His favorite artist(s) that he loved to listen to were the likes of Technotronic, La Bouche, The Real McCoy, Robin S., 2 Unlimited, and many other hot club music artists’ in the 90’s. With his knowledge of EDM, he found it really easy to acquire a taste for the underground sound of EDM which he discovered by going to massive parties that took place in early 2000. While attending these parties, he knew it was his calling to become a dj. He was inspired by artists like Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Donald Glaude, Carl Cox, and Chris Liebing.
Sota started djing in late 2000 playing house music at house parties around the Twin Cities. He played to mostly the Asian underground dance community in his early days of djing. Sota is continuing his journey as a dj by joining forces with the top asian promotional events group called Kind Beats. He joined the group in 2004, and everything since then has been a dream come true. By joining this group, he has played for the biggest crowd in the Midwest at the Myth Nightclub, he opened up for one of the biggest trance producers Above & Beyond at Foundation Nightclub, he has also opened up for Christopher Lawrence at Epic Event Center, and has earned a reputation as one of the top djs in the Kind Beats crew.
Jeff Hunter
Jeff Hunter, the host of the program, has been playing breakbeat music through out the Midwest USA for a decade. Having been on college radio in the late 90’s, Jeff was fully involved in the radio broadcast experience and it’s been calling to him ever since he left in Y2K.
