The vibe at Armin was incredible. My favorite show of the year. Can’t wait for 2010 so we can make it bigger and better then last year!

There were so many awesome shows you guys put together in 2009. It’s hard to pick which one was the best because there were so many great ones. I’m a huge fan of trance, so experiencing shows of all the world-renowned trance DJs was a huge treat.

To experience the world’s finest performers in electronic music right here in Minneapolis is incredible. I really can’t express how much I appreciate the work you do in bringing such global superstars here. The names of the DJs may not be as well known here compared to elsewhere, but I think many more people here are starting to catch the electronica bug and realize how incredible it is that such amazing performers are brought here.

I loved all the trance shows but also the non-trance shows, especially The Crystal Method because they always put on a great event. But of all the shows, I would have to say the best was Above & Beyond with Boom Jinx. The entire show was absolutely stellar. Boom Jinx could be a returning headliner by himself and I’m sure it would draw a huge crowd. The passion he put into his performance was incredible, unlike any other I’ve seen. Above & Beyond then put on an amazingly euphoric epic set that was simply unforgettable. All their tracks were incredible, yet I know they have so many more up their sleeves that they could do in a future show here. I’m pretty certain that they would draw an even larger crowd if they came again, much like Tiesto or Armin’s shows.

I loved all the different displays with each show. It was like being in a totally different club each time, even when it was at the same place at Epic. The other venues were not so favorable as many would argue, and I would agree. It seems Epic is a great place to host the shows at. But you guys always have awesome shows no matter where it takes place.

Ferry Corsten, Tiesto, Armin, and Peri all did amazing sets as well. Unarguably, Tiesto and Armin’s shows were very massive. But I believe Above & Beyond was the finest show, and at a ridiculously amazing price! That’s what really makes me appreciative. Looking at the prices of shows in other cities, it starts to become evident what Sound in Motion is all about – sharing electronic music at rock-bottom prices so that everyone can experience and enjoy such amazing shows.

You guys are seriously awesome. And don’t listen to the negative morons that post corrosive comments on MnVibe about the shows. I check out what they say but can’t look to it for more than a minute because of their ass-backwards mentality. Sound in Motion deserves respect for its amazing work. I think more people are becoming followers to your shows because they realize how amazing it all is.

Awesome work again with everything in 2009. All I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you for all the incredible shows. I look forward to 2009 and yet another trance DJ I’ve always wanted to see, Markus Schulz. It’s going to be incredible!

Whoops, I meant I look forward to 2010. But if we could rewind back to 2009 to experience all the shows again, that would be pretty cool too.

SIM has had an incredible year, and I’m really proud to say that I got to be a part of it.

The best SIM moment of 2009 (for me) was Above and Beyond. Absolutely the best show I have been to in the Cities during the past 4 years of being here. The vibe was amazing for the entire time, great crowd! A&B are the most personable DJs ever, and were so much fun to watch. So, with that, I want to see these guys come back to the Cities. Their music is the best trance I know of today: pure and uplifting. It’s not just going to a club when it’s A&B spinning; it’s the ultimate trance experience.

And 2nd best moment was definitely Ferry Corsten. Again, a wonderful DJ to see, because, like A&B, Ferry interacted with the crowd during his set, grinning the entire time and clearly enjoying himself. Great crowd and energy too. I would love to see Ferry again.

I have to add that other good moments included Paul van Dyk and Armin, always good to see them perform. They’ve always been favorites of mine to see, with good music and a good time. But hands down, Above & Beyond gets SIM Best 2009 Moment. I look forward to seeing them again in the Cities in the future! :-D

Thank you SIM for all you’ve done; it’s been an awesome year, and can’t wait to see what 2010 will bring!

Year after year my wife & I are taken back with the world class DJs that are brought here to Minneapolis and the caliber of shows that are thrown by SIM. Having moved here 4 years from Memphis, seeing such DJs as Ferry, PvD, Tiesto, Armin, and more were only a dream for diehard electronic music fans.

Having two younger boys makes and having to pay for a babysitter makes it challenge to pick and chose which shows to see and which ones that we have to wait for until the next time they come around. In 2009, as much as it pained us to miss shows from Tiesto, Armin, Crystal Method, Carl Cox, and Filo & Peri, those feelings were offset by seeing Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, and Above & Beyond with Boom Jinx.

Above & Beyond was one of the first show that we saw here after moving to Minneapolis so having them back here in 2009 was a special event and sits near the top of the list. Being biased however the top moment of 2009 was getting to see my favorite DJ – Ferry F’n Corsten – for the 5th time. The passion he has for the music and the love he shows to the fans made that night one of our favorties for 2009.

I can certainly echo the feelings on how stellar of a performance Boom Jinx was. I didn’t realize that he was going to be one of the headliners until he came on and was pleasantly suprised to enjoy one of my favorite Anjunabeats artist here in Minneapolis. I’d love to see more acts where headliners from Anjunabeats, Armada, Black Hole, etc have some of the up and coming artists come along to open up for them like Boom Jinx did for A&B.

It has been an immense delight to see as many of our favorite DJs as we have the last 4 years, and look forward to continuing the support for SIM and the acts they bring through so even more will come through in the future.

This year was truly a year when the very essence of electronic music was brought forth to Minneapolis by SIM, hands down. Among the ones that I have been to, Ferry Corsten and Above & Beyond were by far the best concerts I have ever been to.

For me, the Ferry Corsten experience was surreal. Especially because I got to play for him and also because his music was just beyond this world. Meeting him after the show and seeing how down-to-earth he is made the whole experience complete.

On the other hand, Above & Beyond….im speechless as to how great of a night it was. From the moment they started the night of with Dirty Vegas to the moment when they ended the set with Passive Progressive, every second was worth the hype, the passion and the intensity of the music. They knew exactly how to make the concert what it was and SIM made it happen. You guys seriously make life worth living every moment. I wasnt able to make it to Armin or Tiesto, but I bet it was even more epic (no pun intended). But I have never been to a show like Above and Beyond where the DJs are so likeable and personal with their fans. That is the one reason they have more than 21 million fans across the world. SIM just factors more of those fans into their fanbase.

To JT & the SIM crew, ill say this much: you guys make a difference in the electronic music movement. Sadly, there are not a lot of people who understand the essence of the music we love so much. But ill agree with Chris, dont listen to what the haters say.You guys rock !!

Thanks for the great experience. I sure as heck am gonna miss it all !! Good luck with 2010.

I couldn’t have said it any better! Everyone else already described my feelings. You guys have done so much for us bringing electronic in full force to Minneapolis. Things will never be the same, and can only get more intense from here! 2009 was off the hook and I can only imagine that 2010 will top last year! Thank you for everything you do. It is one thing to see these big name DJ’s, but to have stellar local entertainment as well completes the full dance experience.

It’s great that you bring a slew of different electronic artists, not only trance. The sounds of all of these sub-genres have been evolving immensely. Letting us experience them really has helped me get further into the music and appreciate the changes that are happening.

I would say my top favorites in ’09 were Tiesto, Ferry Corsten and A&B. Above&Beyond is the fresh new sound of trance in my opinion. Boom Jinx was amazing as well!

I look forward to all of the fantastic happenings in 2010 and of course, Markus Schulz! :) Thank you for everything SIM crew and JT! You guys are truly the best!

I though that the Paul Van Dyk show at Epic in June was a great time. PvD always gets me riled up.

wow what a great year it was. so many amazing shows i got to attend to. :) I’d prolly say armin was my fav show. Just the crowd and vibe was so bomb. i remember when the crowd was like doin the lean wave forward and backward like all together. that was super sweet. never done that befor and then during home he had his hands up gettin all epic and the power went out. it was kinda funny. but then it commin back on just like made it more epic haha. amazing show. hats off to sim for a great year and lookin forward to 2010.

I’m a deep house junkie at heart, and that being said, I will never forget the Johnny Fiasco show earlier last year. Smaller party, but I had a blast! Also, I’d have to agree with Jeff- the Paul Van Dyk show this year was off the walls. Everytime I see him, I get blown away. PvD gets as LIVE as live can get! Massively sick set. I can’t wait to see what 2010 will bring!

Can’t forget about the house music! D. Ramirez was my personal favorite (and — I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again — it was an honor to open up for him). There were plenty of shows I unfortunately missed this year, not living in the cities anymore. Very bummed I missed out on Wolfgang Gartner… I’m sure that was the sickest show of the year. Please, although I’m not going to be around to enjoy most of the acts you bring next year, please please please… don’t forget about the electro (especially the fidget electro). I’d love to see something epic on the lineup next year as far as this genre goes… How bout Micky Slim? Sebastien Leger? Trentemoller? AC Slater? B. Rich? Stupid Fresh? Bass Kleph? Any of those would be EPIC! Keep it up SIM crew!

Ferry Corsten by far my favorite. I’m never disappointed when he’s in town and the stage set up was awesome, but i can’t wait for Markus Schulz because i don’t remember seeing him play here and it will be my fist seeing him live! WEE WHOO!

I went to Tiesto for my first show and was little disappointed there was no room to breathe or dance on the floor. He put on a great show, but my experience at Above & Beyond definitely outdid Halloween. As others mentioned the crowd was great & everyone seemed to be vibing the music they played. Hope that they come back again next year!

Sadly I couldn’t make it to a lot of shows that I desired to attend. However, D. Ramirez was fun and interesting.

My favorite SIM time last year was when I played from 1-2 on Epic’s rooftop. That was amazing and such a blast. Everyone was grooving to whatever I played. Also seeing Teddy Mac open up for Donald Glaude was quite sick.

Now I will do everything in my power to see Markus again. Honestly, I almost teared up the last time I saw him at Foundation. Such great music, emotional and exhilirating all at once.

HEY SIM!?!?! Trying to bring in Filthy Rich/Spektre????

    Jan 03, 2010 @ 10:45 pm

  22. Anna G

I had a great time at Wolfgang Gartner and I was thrilled to get to see him play. I thought D. Ramirez’s set was fantastic and loved the vibe in the crowd at that show. AVB is one of my favorites, so pairing a Star Wars theme with that show made my night. Tiesto was just insane! PVD is always amazing to watch at work at one of his sets. A&B/Boom Jinx was pure melodic trance deliciousness. :) Too many to choose just one!

I have to say…Cheers To Sound In Motion and all of the people affiliated. 2009 was an incredible year, and even though I moved to Florida in like July, I still made it back for multiple shows. Nobody does it like you guys do. I moved down to FL expecting something similar…and the only DJ’s I saw down there is deadmau5 and Tiesto…

Im not even a big trance head and PVD was one of my favorite moments. Vox and JT just tore it up at the beginning of the night.
A&B probably second on the list, really was digging the vibe and I had never seen them before. EPICC.

I will be back from Florida this summer, and one thing I would absolutely love to experience is a SIM, ARENA EVENT! seriously tho, get on that, Epic is sweet and all. But I think we need to change it up. you guys are awesome! keep doin ur thing!
    PEACE!

    D. RAMIREZ in early August at Karma. He absolutely killed it that night, one of my favorites sets of the year! It was a great summer night, and you have to love the sound in there just bumpin.

unfortunately i lived in WI until late december so getting back to our shows wasn’t always in the cards. definitely a few i missed that i would have loved to have caught (some for the second or third times, and definitely some first timers in minneap, e.g. wolfgang). but overall i’d say my top few were seeing d. ramirez rock the small crowd at karma was insane. carl cox was a lot of fun, and ferry always puts on a great show in terms of interaction w/ the crowd. armin isn’t really my bread and butter, but throwing that show was an absolute blast. seeing all the smiles on the djs and the crowd is always a plus, and 2010 is looking to be just as fun as 2009.

Its hard for me to remember exactly which shows were 2009 – but I know for sure one of my favorite SIM shows EVER was D. Ramirez. Absolutely one of my favorite sets of the year. Amazing vibe from D. Ramirez himself, the crowd, the openers killed it… All around awesome show.

The Thrilla @the Gorilla show was a pretty sick local line up too… Those multi-room shows at Chambers always were good times.

Guetta was not my favorite show, but I will say the sets thrown down by the openers were some of my favorites I’ve heard all year from them. Better than the headliner, IMO. :)
